Single mode wavelength division multiplexers (WDM) are devices that combine or separate optical signals at different wavelengths. They have very low insertion loss, low polarization dependence, high isolation, and excellent environmental stability. These components have been widely used in erbium-doped fiber amplifiers (EDFA), cable television (CATV), wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) networks, and fiber optic instruments.
Insertion Loss: The insertion loss of single-mode WDM is very low, typically reaching a maximum of 0.35dB
This means that the signal strength loss is minimal when the optical signal passes through WDM.
Polarization Dependence: WDM has very low polarization dependence loss, with a maximum value of 0.1dB
This indicates that WDM processes optical signals with different polarization states uniformly and does not cause differences in signal loss due to differences in polarization states.
Isolation: The minimum isolation of WDM is 13dB
This means that the optical signals between different wavelengths are well isolated and have minimal interference with each other.
Environmental stability: WDM has excellent thermal stability, with a rate of change not exceeding 0.002dB/ºC, within the temperature range of -5 ºC to+70 ºC
This ensures the stability of WDM performance at different environmental temperatures.
